Pleasley Vale – Y2 Scale New Heights

All the Year 2 children visited Pleasley Vale for a day of activities. Many climbed all the way to Level 4 of the climbing wall whilst other crawled through a network of tunnels. The afternoon was a combination of archery (dry) and bell-boats (wet). We all had a great day and well done Y2 for your Sense of Adventure!

Bikeability Level 2

This final term saw Year 6 pupils tackle the Level 2 standard of Bikeability. A great attitude from all and compliments from the instructors. Seven graduated through to Day 2. Level 2 involves riding on the road.

QUAD Kids Athletics Event 2023

Nine athletes travelled to Spink Hill and Mount St. Mary’s School for a new sporting event. Spring, middle distance, howler javelin and standing long-jump all featured. A ‘gutsy’ performance from all and we had Year 3 children up against Year 6.

Scooter Smart Training 2023 –  Y1 & Y2 on the go!

What an amazing turnout of scooters and children. We had over 40 children from across three classes working with Miss Wilbourn & Rob Bounds. Super Sessions of Scooter Smart Training!

Triathlon 2023 – Pleasley Vale Upper Key Stage 2

A first for some and fourth overall as a finishing position. It was great to see so many school competing in this fun event. We started with the run and then went straight to the double canoe. Finally we whizzed around the KMX Kart course. A great morning’s fun and friendly atmosphere!

Sports Hall Athletics 2023 – The Final!

What a journey these eight legends (Leyla, Freya, Isla, Lacey, Harley, Leo, Harry & Will) have been on and joined by the mighty Travis in the final. Travis was supporting the team after an injury. We journeyed to Derby College to face our sternest challenge yet – the top six schools in the whole of Derbyshire (small schools). The competition was fierce and some of the races were very close. To have placed second in the whole county was an incredible achievement! Well done and a privilege for Mr Grafton and I to have been part of your journey to success for BVPS.

Year 3/4 Triathlon 2023

Six athletes from Year 4 enjoyed a varied morning of sports at Pleasley Vale. KMX Carts were used instead of mountain bikes, followed by a 500 meter run and the last event was a group canoeing event. The team attempted to go ‘over-land’ in the canoe which added some drama and people getting splashed! A good time had by all and a second place finish!

Navigating choppy waters!

Swimming Gala 2023

Eight swimmers (fours boys and four girls) swam and then swam some more at the Gala. We returned to the ARC Leisure Centre in Clowne with a squad of new, and experienced gala swimmers. A super team effort followed with BVPS values in full effect. We placed third in the small school heats. A very tiring but enjoyable morning!

Matilda ‘Little Bit Naughty’ Winding Wheel Performance 2023

A talented group of twenty dancers performed on stage to over 700 people at the Winding Wheel Theatre in Chesterfield. Miss Wilbourn has choreographed the routine and the group more than delivered during the performance. They also danced for the school and the video is from the ‘run-through’ at the Winding Wheel. Ties were worn for the performance proper.

Indoor Athletics County Competition 2022-23

Groups from both upper and lower Juniors have competed in this event, which is fast paced and is often a closely contested event. Speed, strength and skill are all needed and have been demonstrated. Mr Grafton has master minded the success of this event. We have reached the County Final for the upper juniors. Watch this space!

Football County Competition 2022-23

A talented and dedicated team, led by Mr Grafton, made is all the way to the small school’s county finals. The teams playing on that day were the best and the team showed skill and commitment, even as the rain came down and the light faded. A wonderful demonstration of determination and positivity led to a third place overall. Great support from families and real BVPS values shown.

Cross Country Running 2022-23

Bramley Vale Primary School made it all the way to the County Finals. Our journey started in 2022 with runner from across the junior age range. All the children ran with determination and BVPS spirit. The Lower Junior Boys team of four qualified for the Bolsover Area event at Mount St. Mary’s and from there qualified for the County Finals just outside Chesterfield. What a group and what a journey!

Football League Match

The school football team played the final game of the league competition that has been running throughout the year. They were up against Bolsover Juniors, who had won all of their previous games. The final score was 1-1. The improvement in performance from our earlier fixtures was staggering. It was a proud moment for every one of the team, who were cheered on superbly by friends and parents who had come to support.

Potted Sports

At our recent potted sports event, children were placed into their house groups. The Bolsover sport partnership organised a range of fun activities, which our children thoroughly enjoyed out in the sunshine.

Go Ride! Gold!

What a day’s event. A first for Bramley Vale and recognition of how active and determined the children are. Some stiff competition and a positive atmosphere. First was the gruelling Cross Country, which was followed by the Italian Pursuit with the Slalom rounding off the competition.

Bikeability Level 1 – Year 3 Pupils Training 2022

The Bikeability Trainers were full of praise for the Year 3’s progress and attitude. By the end of the afternoon, three none riders were cycling and the rest of the groups had passed Level 1!

Year 3 - Wheels Roll!

School’s Triathlon Event 2022

What an amazing morning’s effort! Canoeing, mountain biking and running were the three events. Five teams competed at Pleasley Vale to be the quickest across all three events. We came home with gold! A brilliant team performance!

After a half-term of training on this new sport, a team competed against two other schools at The Bolsover School. The standard was high and we secured Silver. Well done all.
