Starting school in September……..
We would like to send a warm welcome to new families to our school. Our early years unit is a friendly and supportive environment where children are happy and content. We work hard to meet the needs of all of our children and work closely with families to ensure we provide the best for them.
Our early years unit is a large, bright classroom with a brand new outdoor play area.
Please explore our website class pages which showcases all of the lovely things the children do whilst in school, and do get in touch if you have any questions or would like to visit our school prior to your application.
Reception Age Children
We operate a single point of admission – this means that we admit all children for Reception in September. Acceptance of applications is dependant upon the number of children in the appropriate year group. Our standard number for each year is 25. Appeals against refused applications may be made to Derbyshire County Council.
By law all infant classes must have 30 children or fewer. This could mean that children may be in a mixed ages class in order to achieve this aim. We try to keep classes as small as possible but we have to work within budgetary limitations.

Nursery Age Children
Within our early years unit we have the provision to offer places for children from 3 years of age. Our nursery class offers a caring environment where children are encouraged to develop physically, academically and socially.
Parents are invited to discuss admission arrangements for nursery with the School Business Officer. An offer of a place depends upon the numbers of pupils currently registered and the needs of the individual cohorts of pupils. Requests are considered inline with the school’s admissions policy.
We offer nursery children the opportunity to stay over lunchtime, please see our ‘nursery pay as you go’ section for more details.
Request For A Child Place
Prior to transfer to Reception, parents must apply using the standard Derbyshire County Council application form. A nursery place does not guarantee a place in main school.
