Mr Stoppard Year 2/3

There are 17 Year 2 and 13 Year 3 children in our class. Mr Stoppard is the class teacher and we are supported by our fantastic teaching assistant Mrs Brown

Autumn Term 2

This term the children will be learning all about Wild Weather and Violent Volcanoes. We will learn how weather changes on a daily basis but climate changes over time. This is particularly topical due to the COP26 taking place when we come back to school. The children will learn how we measure the weather and how climate is different around the world. Towards the end of the term, we will move onto looking at volcanoes. We will look at where they are and how they form. We might make our own volcanoes just to add a little danger!

We will also be using Reading Eggs to move our reading on. Please ensure that your child has their reading bag with them everyday. In maths, we will be learning how to use all four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) and applying them to solve real life problems. In science work, the Y2’s & Y3’s will be learning about rocks and how they are used everyday in the most unusual ways.

Away from the classroom will continue having lots of fun getting ready for Christmas. We will be having a performance at the end of the year so will be doing lots to get ready for this. Full details of everything that will be going on will be in our weekly newsletter.

All in all it should be a very busy term.

Best wishes and stay safe, Andy Stoppard

A fantastic ‘Crime & Punishment’ day when we finally found out who had stolen the biscuits and eaten them all! Some amazing detective skills and fantastic costumes meant we all had a brilliant day.

Another glorious day for the Tough Runner event on Friday 9th July. The children loved all the exercise and getting wet. Lots of photos to show what a wonderful afternoon it was.

On the 2nd July half of the class went to White Post Farm and half went to the park and had a picnic. Luckily, the weather stayed good and we had a lovely day feeding the animals and had a fun day out. Have a look at the photos below.

On Thursday the 1st of July, the weather stayed good and the sun shone on the first Sports Day for two years. Have a look at the photos below.

On Thursday the 10th June, we had the amazing Potted Sports people visit school. We had a full hour with lots of different activities and the children had a fantastic time. Have a look at the pictures below to see the fun we had.

Thanks to everyone who helped out on our Ancient Greek day and to everyone who helped produce some excellent costumes. On the day, the children came to school in a costume and we had a lovely Greek banquet. We also took part in the Ancient Olympic Games and made our own Greek hats. Have a look at the photos of the day.

Happy Easter everyone. Thanks for all your help and support throughout the term. Have a look at the fantastic Easter bonnets and hats that have been sent into school.

Red Nose Day is always lots of fun. Everybody in the class made their hair a little bit different for the day.

Now we are all back in school, we can enjoy days like the World Book Day. Have a look at the pictures we took on the day showing all the fabulous costumes and characters.
