Summer Term 2
This term’s topic has a Geography focus and we will be learning about local and national geography. We will learn about all the counties that surround Bramley Vale and how Derbyshire fits into the United Kingdom. We will look at four different counties within the UK. (Derbyshire, North Yorkshire, Rutland and Cornwall) and look at their similarities and differences. We will also learn about the different countries of the U.K. so we can find and identify them in an atlas.
With reading, can you please ensure that your child has their reading bag with them everyday and I would appreciate it if you could read with your child a couple of times during the week. In maths, we will be learning how to use coins, and completing lots of work on different forms of measuring (mass and volume). In science work, we will be continuing learning all about ‘Light’. This will include work looking at sources of light, mirrors & reflection and shadows.
Away from the classroom, we will continue having lots of fun as have a number of different activities planned throughout the term. Full details of everything else that will be going on will be in our weekly newsletter.
All in all it should be a very busy term.
Best wishes and stay safe, Andy Stoppard
